In 1966 at the age of 18, my Father started what he loved doing, Trucking. My father also had a side business when he wasn't on the road driving trucks, where people lovingly referred to him as "The Meat Man", due to his business being the selling of meat products with the cleverly titled slogan "Let's Meat at Your Door". He had this business from 1983 until 1989. My father continued as a truck driver for many years working with lots of people & developing many friendships.
.In 2000 in Edgewater Park, NJ, my Dad created his dream and founded J.F. Barnes & Sons. His vision at that time was to have a successful family owned trucking company that his sons could one day have, to be able to follow in his footsteps. For quite a few years my father saw that dream to fruition as he drove at different times with his three sons.
.Unfortunately, in 2009 my father passed away. Leaving behind his 3 sons: Lance, Lamont & myself Lydell and his 3 daughters: Akeysa, Ashante & Avita, along with all his beloved grandchildren. Through the grieving of his loss & everyday hardships, I personally did my best to keep his company name intact. Now in 2020 this dream of my Dad's has come full circle and I am once again putting J.F. Barnes & Sons back on these highways. Between my dad & myself J.F.Barnes has over 68 years of trucking experience. I am dedicated to my father's vision & I thank him every day for the dream he started so long ago, for his dream is now my own.
